I have always been against buying pizza by the slice because it is usually a big rip-off. I mean, it is usually between $2 and $3 dollars for one slice, but I can go to Little Caesar’s and get a whole pizza for $5. However, I make an exception to this rule when I go to Slices in downtown Tempe on Mill. Though it seems a little pricey at first, it won’t take you long to see that you are getting a good deal. There are two big reasons why this place is a great pizza joint.
First, their “slices”
(as they call them) are humungous. Each slice is about the size of half of a small pizza from most chain pizza places. They are just huge. If you can eat more than 2 slices, I would shake your hand (well, after you washed it). I got the student lunch combo there for a very reasonable $6.50. That got me 2 enormous slices of pizza of my choice and a 20oz soda. I was quite full after I left.
Secondly, it is delicious! Their pizza is great. There are so many toppings to choose from, and there are many unique types of pizza available. Last time I went, I had a pizza with gyros meat, bacon, and cheddar on top. It was indeed unique, but very good. There’s nothing quite like eating Greek-Italian-Amercian food. I also got a slice of regular pepperoni pizza, and I was not disappointed. It was definitely one of the better pepperoni pizzas I’ve had.
Update: I’ve also tried their cheese-steak pizza and spaghetti pizza which are both awesome.
I think one of the things I liked most about the place was that it reminded me of the pizza joints that I have been to and seen in New York. It was small, crowded, and there were many different kinds of pizza to choose from. I ate outside on the porch during a break from school. It was a cool, sunny February day, and for me it was pure bliss.
